Astra Asscher Engagement Ring

The Astra Asscher is a split-shank engagement ring with an Asscher-cut diamond turned on its point and held by four prongs at its corners. Each shoulder of the band divides into two rails that open around the stone, drawing a diamond-shaped outline of gold.

An Asscher cut is a square step cut with cropped corners, and its facets look like a series of squares, one inside the next. Turned 45 degrees, the stone reads as a diamond shape across the finger, and the open rails frame it on all four sides.

From the side, the open rails rise to meet the setting, so light reaches the stone from below as well as above.

The Astra is made to order in our Chicago studio in 14k or 18k gold or platinum, with a lab-grown or natural center diamond from 1.0 to 4.5 carats and an IGI or GIA grading report.
