About Lab Grown Engagement Rings
A lab-grown diamond is a real diamond, with the same hardness and sparkle as a mined one. It is grown in weeks instead of forming in the earth over billions of years, and typically costs much less than a natural diamond of the same size and quality. Every ring here is made to order in our Chicago studio in 14k or 18k gold or platinum, with a lab-grown center diamond from 1 to 4.5 carats and an IGI or GIA report.

Lab Grown Diamond Questions
Are lab grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. A lab-grown diamond is pure crystallized carbon: chemically, physically and optically the same as a mined diamond, and 10 on the Mohs hardness scale. It is not a simulant like cubic zirconia or moissanite; only its origin is different.
Can anyone tell a lab grown diamond from a natural one?
Not by eye, and not with a standard diamond tester, which reads both as diamond. Only a gemological lab with specialist equipment can tell them apart, which is why your IGI or GIA report states that the stone is laboratory-grown.
Can I choose a natural diamond for the same ring?
Yes. Every ring here is also offered with a natural center diamond: choose Natural under Diamond on the ring’s page. Either way, your ring is made to order in about 4 to 6 weeks.
